That's me.
This was after I walked the Camino de Santiago to the very end edge of the world (or so they call it), Finisterre.
It wasn't without pain (the first three days were brutal). And yet, here I am at the 0-mark celebrating that I did it! I came so far! On my Camino journey, I was touched by so many kind people who were walking their own journeys. They came to my aid when I could barely walk. And in return, I supported and encouraged anyone I could along the journey. What a metaphor for life!
We are all just here trying to walk each other home.
I have been a leader, coach, and fitness instructor in the health and wellness industry for over 13 years. About halfway through that journey, I became a Nationally Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (it is a big process, y'all!). I picked up so many certifications along the way including Positive Psychology Practitioner, Mindfulness and Meditation, Breath as Medicine, and Integrated Somatic Practitioner as well as lots of fitness certifications (Zumba, Yoga, Zumba Gold, Boot Camp and more)! So, if you are wondering if I have the qualifications on paper (including a master's degree), you bet I do.
BUT, if you have ever been in the dating or working world, "on paper" does not equate to lived and authentic experience.
So let me share some vulnerable truth that cannot be found on a resume. I raised four kids, all adopted from Russia as older kids, and it was HARD! I lost my mom when I was 22 and had to live without her. I got a divorce after 15 years of marriage and had to navigate the scary financial realities of being a single parent. These are just a few of the big trials in life, and I know you have had them too.
We don't get to this stage in life without some scars and badges.
So guess what I did? I learned. A lot. Not the stuff we were taught in college, but the stuff that life teaches us. I learned about breathwork and nervous system regulation and how that can help me calm the f%$# down. I learned to travel SOLO and have traveled across the globe. I learned about mindfulness and abundance and how that actually can translate to real shifts in your life.
Life no longer was happening to me, but for me. And I want that to be your story too.
One February, I decided to lean into the idea of starting my own business. I took two marketing classes and STILL had no idea what I was doing. Imagine my surprise when they laid off our department at work two months later. It wasn't a casual step into starting a business but a jump! People kept telling me to find my niche, and I kept telling them, but I have been a wellness coach for so many different people and so many different needs, and why couldn't I do it all? So, I did. I ran wellness retreats for women and still do. I presented to Google, Microsoft, and many other companies about health, wellness, and fitness. I continue to do so (life secret, you can do lots of things if you enjoy them). AND I also couldn't crack the code with who I wanted to serve with my coaching services.
I was going to be turning 50, and with a little fear and trepidation, I found myself really contemplating what that was going to mean for me...and then came the A-ha moment.
I was going to not hide and sulk my way into my 50's but live it loud and proud. I began my journey of "The Year I Turned 50" where I would try 50 new things. And in the middle of that, I discovered EXACTLY who I wanted to serve. Women. Check. Women Turning /Already 50. Check. Women Turning/Already 50 who want to take life by the horns and live a full, free, manifesting, joyful existence for the rest of their days. Check.
If this is resonating, then we have called each other into existence.
